STATES FIGHT BACK
Right now, lawmakers and state leaders, including a bipartisan group of 35 attorneys general from across the country, are taking a stand against xAI, Elon Musk's company behind the Grok chatbot. They are demanding immediate accountability after the platform was used to flood the internet with sexualized images of women and, most disturbingly, children.

The numbers are staggering. In just an 11-day period, Grok was used to create an estimated 3 million photorealistic sexualized images. Among those were roughly 23,000 images of children. State leaders are calling this "industrial-scale abuse," noting that these features seemed to be marketed as a "selling point" rather than a safety concern.
Multi-State Action
35 State Attorneys General have formally urged xAI to implement safeguards to stop Grok from being used to create non-consensual and sexualized images.
Alabama
The Alabama State House passed a law to stop people from using AI to create and share illegal, sexualized images. The bill passed unanimously in the House but, unfortunately, never came to a vote in the Senate. This bill wouldn't have just banned the content—it would have finally given the victims a way to fight back and get justice. Join us in holding our state leaders accountable for protecting big tech profits over our kids.
California
California's Attorney General, Rob Bonta, has launched a formal investigation into xAI and issued a legal cease-and-desist letter to stop its Grok chatbot from creating "undressed" or sexualized images. He is also building a new artificial intelligence accountability program and specialized oversight unit to monitor tech companies and protect our children from digital exploitation.
Arizona
Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes has also launched a full investigation into Grok AI.Â
South Carolina
House Bill 5598, a newly introduced South Carolina bill, would hold technology developers and AI providers directly accountable when their tools are used to create, alter, or generate intimate images of real, identifiable individuals without their consent.
